Deconstructing
Igor Savchenko
In October 2019, the art action “Deconstructing Igor Savchenko” has been
performed in Minsk by Darius Vaichekauskas (*).
During this action, all negatives of Savchenko’s work from 1985-1996 were
physically destroyed.
(*) Darius Vaichekauskas is an artist and curator living and working in
Klaipeda, Lithuania, who, within his ongoing project “Deconstructing”,
physically destroys (with Shredder machine) work of other artists. Then he uses
the destroyed material to produce his own work. Among others, he has “deconstructed”
pieces by such internationally known Lithuanian artists, working with
photography, as Remigijus Treigys and Gintautas Trimakas.
